Synopsis: Ballinderry qualified unbeaten. Strangely their closet game was against St Coleman's who had been conprhensively beaten in their other two games such is the intrigue of the shortmat game. The rinks skipped by P Reid and E Marsden were the only rinks to win all three games.
Ballinrees 17 v 24 Ballinderry This was an extremely tight game throughout the duration of the game. Both sides shared four ends each in two of the matches but Ballinderry came out on top with an aggregate advantage of three shots. E Jamison only won three ends yet a three on the sixth end gave them the rink lead and the overall game evenly balanced going into the concluding ends. Paul Reid’s squad then scored a single and a four in the last two ends to give Ballinderry a three rink win and their first victory since the re-introduction of this competition having lost in the first round in the previous two seasons. Getting over this hurdle especially in a close game could set them up for a good run as they have the personnel to mount a serious challenge.
