Synopsis:
Clontibrett caused a major upset by qualifying from this group with an emphatic win over struggling St Anthony's being their high point winning all three rink matches. It came down to a play-off between Clontibrett and Spa with Spa having the difficult task of not only beating Clontibrett but also having to win by 12 shots to progress to the quarter final stage. In a tense game the Clontibrett won two rinks narrowly but an impressive performance by the Spa rink skipped by P Christie almost claimed an unlikely victory. Clontibrett qualified by two shots.
G Moens rink was the only foursome to win all three games out of then twelve rinks on showin this group.

This was an eagerly anticipated game in which Spa GC won two of the matches to lead by three shots. D McDonald’s rink was in fine form for St Anthony’s losing only two ends to win by eight shots with a four on the third end being crucial as it kept the overall match on an even keel.
