Club Challenge - Outcome

Section 1
Limavady R&CC made the final two seasons ago and the semi-final last season so they will start a favourites to emerge from section one with Ballymena Towers likely to be their nearest challengers but both Corduff and St Mary’s Newcastle will want to prove otherwise.  
Outcome - St Mary's thru on shot difference. 

Section 2
Open group with no clear-cut favourite but whoever wins will not be expected to progress to the semi-final stage. 
Outcome - St Theresa's qualified unbeaten but lost in a close QF to St Mary's.

Section 3
Carnagill, Conlig, St Joseph’s and Rosslea. Some of these teams are appearing for the first time so they are somewhat of an unknown quantity with the group wide open and an opportunity to finish the evening with an upset in the quarters.
Outcome - Group won by Cranagill in a winner takes all game against St Joseph's winning by one shot. Caused an upset in QF by defeating Tullylish.

Secton 4
Holders Cookstown High face one of the toughest groups and if they do come thru will be regarded as firm favourites. They face Loughanreagh, Mossley & All Saints Tullylish.
Outcome - It was a very strong group but Tullylish comprehensively defeated Cookstown in the decider.

Section 5
There should be a three way fight between Carrickmacross, Spa Golf club and St Anthony’s from Portadown but they will have to be on their guard that they do not underestimate Clontibrett.  
Outcome - Clontibrett thru on shot difference in a nail-biting finish with Spa GC.

Section 6
Ballywalter, Magherafelt Community, Ballintoy & Salisbury. An excellent opportunity for a club to progress to the final game of the day but realistically it is a group that all the top teams would expect to progress from.
Outcome - Ballywalter qualified unbeaten with a one shot win over second placed Ballintoy vital. Beaten in QF by Clontibrett.

Section 7
Cookstown Parochial should top group seven which included 2nd Donegore and St Mary's Killyleagh.
Outcome - Cookstown Parochial have appeared in thre finals and are on course to reach a fourth. They play Clontibrett in the semi-final.

Group 8
Not straight forward with Ballinderry hoping that they can finally win a game in this competition. If they can string the wins together then their momentum could cause problems for Cookstown Parochial in the quarter-final. However the other three sides are capable of putting in a winning performance.  
Outcome - Ballinderry won three out of three and pushed Cookstown Parochial all the way.

 
It would not be a surprise if shot difference was the deciding factor in more than one of the groups.
Outcome - two groups decided by shot difference.
