PAIRS Semi-finals:
Chris Eadie & Michael Merritt beat Simon Colvin & Gary Kelly 1.5 - 0.5 [5-5, 7-2]
Simon & Gary entered the last end of the first set a shot in arrears thanks mainly to the consistency of lead Chris Eadie. They lay the two shots required to take the first set but Michael served up his best bowls striking the head taking out one bowl and narrowly missing taking out the second shot.
In the second set the scores were tied at 2-2 with the E&M lying two shots. Gary attacked the head aiming to split the two opposition bowls which he managed but instead of running thru on to the jack Gary only snicked the jack and with one of E&M's bowls remaining in the head for shot.
Then in the following end Simon drew an excellent delivery to take shot away from another Eadie toucher however Michael produced a top quality bowl to edge out the shot bowl and claim two shots. This put them in the driving seat and instead of going into the last end all square E&M were three ahead and able to consolidate for the vidctory.
Ian McClure & Jeremy Henry beat Trevor Colvin and Barry Kane 2-0 [6-2, 7-3]
A close first set with only singles being scored on the opening ends but with the more more experienced duo sneaking in front and climing the set. The second set was controlled by M&H with Kane forced to play some accurate drawing bowls to reduce the damage and stay in the game but the greater consistency paid dividends for M&H.
